French verse miscellany, circa 1750-1799.

Handwritten original poems in French, dating from the late 18th century, probably by a nobleman associated with the royal court. Half the pages in the notebook are blank. One of the poems is dedicated to the Princess of Prussia, Ulrique, who became Queen of Sweden in 1751. Some of the poems are copies of poems by Voltaire. There are also poems dedicated to Marie Salle, a Paris Opera dancer; and Juliette Catesby, a fictional character in Marie Jeanne Riccoboni's "Lettres de Milady Juliette Catesby." There is some internal evidence to indicate that the owner of the book was either Charles Pinot Duclos or Jean Baptiste de Boyer.

1 volume (77 pages) ; 16.5 cm.
